| Here's one called Rare Commute. It's a trance thing. No bass track on this one; just drum presets and mandolas with octave effect.

Below: Celtic influenced Rock tune with bass and drums composed on laptop. Solid-body Mukudo tuned as mandola (tenor) through multi-effects, output through PA (flat), and recorded through the camcorder's mic.

What follows is a set of analog videos shot in the 1980's, then transferred to camcorder and uploaded to YouTube in a more recent year. This is one of my earliest solid-body mandolas. A radical yet obvious precursor in style to what would follow, it has a Washburn vibrato, long out of production. The captions are as posted on YouTube.

The louder, the better. Come on, now! The song starts out high and ends very gently. Jimmy tilted the camera; I guess I'll get over it. J.John MixSon, electric mandola Jimmy Millsaps, drums Ali Che'Ree, bass

Volume can make a difference! Crank it up! We're beginning to get an idea of how it should go. I spend a little more time playing with the lead breaks than in the final version, and this is not exactly what that ends up sounding like.
|
Is the volume up? Stop now and check! An obscure session caught on video. This isn't presented as a polished performance, just to reveal the electric mandola in a 3-piece setting. It's in the early stages of putting the song together; Jimmy was fairly familiar with it, but it was very new to Ali.

Here is the first video showcasing Mukudo. I've tuned this one to standard guitar: strings 1-4 eBGD. Multiple effects, such as compressor, reverb, and amp simulator, are used throughout. The bass, flute, tin whistle, and drums were composed on my laptop.
|
In this video, the instrument is tuned to Tenor Ukulele: GCEa. No effects are applied to the signal; it runs through a PA with all flat EQ. Mukudo's tone knob is at about "4". Again, laptop accompaniment - bass, drums, flute.
