For years I dreamed of a portable instrument that I could take around - to school, to work, on road trips - and practice with on lunch breaks and such, when my thoughts are on music and I'm thinking "How would I play that tune?" But I was also thinking "It has to be a really good axe, one that is worthy of performance."
Enter Mukudo.

The Mukudo can be tuned to standard pitch of the guitar's first four strings - D/G/b/e. Or, since the distance to the first fret is the same as between frets 7 & 8 on guitar, it can be tuned A/D/Gb/b for those high-range pyrotechnics.
Or it can be tuned to Tenor Uke - G/C/e/a, which it technically is because of the 17" scale.
Or Tenor Mandola - C/G/d/a, which it also technically is, for the same reason.
Then there is Cuatro Venezuala - A/D/f#/B, and ... In fact, it can be tuned just about any way one chooses. See the - strings/tunings page for a discussion and the new Tension & Gauges Calculator.

The overall length and width of Mukudo is very close to Concert Ukulele and A-style mandolin. A great travel instrument, since it conforms to carry-on size restrictions. The included gig bag is a well padded one which will protect Mukudo on your travels together.
It is quiet when unplugged, great for practicing just about anywhere, and of course potentially very loud when amplified. The compact design makes it advisable to use a cord with a right-angle connector, so one is included.
The model with the wavy horns is Ram, 'cuz of the wavy horns. The other one is Toro (the Bull). They both have a "nose ring" for attaching your strap (included) and both retain the hand-carved effect, where tool marks are not completely eliminated, which gives them a cool biological character.

So here is that dream fulfilled; the ultra-portable Derringer of an axe. And when it's cranked up through your signal processors, people in the other room are gonna be hearing big guns.
